GEORGE WILKINSON
Events & Fundraising Director
With two decades of expertise in communications, end-to-end creative services, management, large-scale events, and major fundraising, George (Georgina) Wilkinson has successfully blended creativity and strategic thinking to propel non-profit, mission-driven organizations to make the biggest possible impact. Known for her innovative design solutions and effective communications and marketing strategies, her work showcases a mastery of visual storytelling, and a keen understanding of how compelling design amplifies key messaging.
Wilkinson is the Creative Director for the Archdiocese of Washington, where her thoughtfully crafted visuals have captivated attention, strengthened brand identity, told compelling stories, boosted credibility, driven engagement, attracted donors, and been instrumental in raising millions of dollars each year to support the charitable works, schools, programs and ministries of the Archdiocese. Wilkinson was a key part of the communications, media, creative services, and organizational effort to host Pope Benedict XVI in Washington, DC in 2008 and Pope Francis in 2015. She began a meal kit program, enlisting Archdiocesan staff to participate in a weekly production line creating thousands of bagged meals each year for the residents of the Archdiocese’s homeless shelters in Washington. She also involved staff in an annual collection of essential supplies for homeless mothers and their children being supported by the Archdiocese. Cardinal Donald Wuerl awarded her the St. Joseph the Worker Award for exemplary service.
Wilkinson is also the founder and owner of Brilliant Design and Communications – a graphic design and communications firm that serves various local and national non-profit and for-profit clients.
She is a native of the U.K. who has lived and worked in four countries and has made the U.S. home since 2002. She has resided in the DC area for the past 15 years, with her two teenagers. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Birmingham in the U.K., and is a proud HBCU graduate, earning a master’s degree in media and communications from Norfolk State University. Wilkinson is a member of the British-American Business Association and a keen advocate for cultivating cultural and professional relationships between the U.S. and the U.K.
As a former U.S. Navy spouse for 16 years, Wilkinson understands the sacrifices made and challenges faced by veterans and the families who support them, and she is personally passionate about the mission of The Washington Tattoo to bring much needed attention to the toll that military life can take on their mental health.
